Seems like everyone is on the injured reserve list today.

the girls are taking a few days by bus which is most probably a good idea, and Peter has a leg issue as well, so seeing as we are only 6 k out of Leon, I'll take the bus in with them as I don't feel like the 6 km of industrial buildings that we have going in here. My legs could most probably use a break too.
The city of Leon is quite spectacular, lots of narrow alleys and food bars etc,  this is the last big town and cultural highpoint on this journey, till we get to Santiago. Leon was a military stronghold founded by the Roman soldiers in  68 AD, till the Moors took it from them.
The Cathedral  de Leon is pretty spectacular,
this was built in the 14 the century but took till the early 19 the century for it to be complete.
got to tell you, I am now loosing muscle, not getting enough protein in the system, so 4 eggs and 4 big bacon rashers for breakfast was just right today
There was a renaissance  market in the main square, so we decided to eat dinner there, the Italian gang cuaght up and joined us, and the fun began.
Peter and I had a laugh, and maybe a glass of vino tinto too many, but who's counting, I worked hard for this.
went to a wine bar on the way back to the albergue and listened to this guy singing and playing guitar, loved it so much I brought a CD to take home, hope it still sounds good when I get it there

I met Francesco s mother last night, she is riding her bike to Santiago and met up with her son on the way, really nice lady, who can party with the best.

June 14 today and it's fathers day, I got up late , about 8am and hit the road. I left everyone in Leon to find their way onwards. My plan was to see them at the night stop today in Villar de Mazarife, but I got there at 12.30 and decided to continue and make it a 33 km day. I walked alone all day and really enjoyed myself, I am looking forward to being solo tomorrow as well, though it will only be a 23km day. Most likely run into the rest of the gang in Astorga. If not there, then somewhere,  I don't have a problem walking alone.
On the way out this morning I went by the Justice building
And then the Leon museum building which doubles as a hostel to partially self fund itself.
The walk out was a two hour slot through a built up area with lots of twists and turns, eventually reaching the outskirts of Leon and onto a dirt path for the next few kilometers.

Just past Chizas, going past me was Francesco s mother on her bicycle, don't know how she got behind me as she left earlier, but there she was, so we exchanged pleasantries and off she went again, to where tonight, she didn't know.
Coming into the village of Mazarife, I saw this fresco on the wall on a house, I thought it was really interesting.
I have had a hot shower and warmed up now, but the rain came pouring down over the last 3 km of the walk today. I was pushing to make the albergue as I saw it coming, but no such luck in beating it.. Hope its dry tomorrow, either way, I'm off to Astorga , with a 6 km ,straight as an arrow tared section ahead to look forward to, my feet love that stuff,,not.
